Valley Offers the Best of Everything

On the banks of the Chattahoochee in the heart of the South, there's a town that preserves the best of yesterday and carries promise for tomorrow, a welcoming place to put down roots or bring the family for a visit. It's the historic mill town of Valley, Alabama, located halfway between the state capital, Montgomery, and Atlanta, Georgia just off the I-85.

Valley is a slice of Southern history. After the Civil War, twin mill towns Langdale and Riverview were built as part of the emerging textile revolution. In the early 1900s, the mill villages of Shawmut and Fairfax were added, and in 1980 these four towns incorporated to form the City of Valley, Alabama. Valley is proud to preserve its heritage in numerous historic buildings open to the public and to showcase in the award-winning Cotton Mill Reunion festival each August and the Cotton Mill Christmas musical. A vintage merry-go-round is another Christmas treat, attracting more than 60,000 riders during the holidays.

Whether it's a flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, a Fall Festival or an annual Day on the River, this close-knit community of 9,200 enjoys getting together to enjoy each other's company and welcome visitors.

If you're just passing through, plan to be in Valley at meal time for the best that Alabama has to offer in down-home cooking including succulent barbeque. Leave a few minutes to browse through the local antique stores like the 559 Marketplace, where you can find everything from vintage clothing to handmade crafts.

If you're thinking of moving, why not consider this Alabama Community of Excellence for your new home? Although Valley enjoys a small-town atmosphere, a variety of companies and even large-scale industries in the Greater Valley Area offer excellent employment opportunities, including the recently opened $1 billion, state-of-the-art KIA automotive plant in nearby West Point, Georgia.

Valley promotes a healthy and active lifestyle with locally grown produce at its Farmers Market, a 54,000 sq.ft., Community Center with aquatic center, indoor walking track, racquetball courts and gyms as well as tennis courts, soccer fields and Sportsplex and a seven-mile scenic walking trail. Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and the Callaway Gardens Golf Courses are a mere 30 minutes away.

Whether you plan to stay for a meal, a day, or always, Valley, Alabama on the banks of the beautiful Chattahoochee River offers the best of everything.
